Make me look like, Kim, baby!

This is what I told my hair stylist last week.

I whipped out my iPhone and pulled up the first picture I found of Kim Kardashian. But, like, the blonde Kim K. I never expected her to be my “hair-spiration,” but for some reason, that Kardashian sex appeal got to me. Zing!

Now I’d like to chalk up the new ‘do to the new season. You know, it’s summer, it’s warm… “I’m going blonde!”

But no. This is a classic case of break-up hair.

Anyone who’s seen Sex in the City: The Movie knows this is just a rite of passage when you eat emotional dirt. You put your head in the witness protection program for awhile until you can emerge again, battered, bruised and better for it. Your life might feel like its spinning wildly out of whack, but the one thing you can control is rolling with a bomb-ass head of hair.

My new locks didn’t come out quite as blonde as Kimmy’s, but I’m happy with the result. And probably more pleased with the fact that I’ve now progressed to actually doing break-up hair. Fresh is good. New is always better.

As the brilliant Candace Bushnell wrote, “Maybe mistakes are what make our fate… without them what would shape our lives? Maybe if we had never veered off course we wouldn’t fall in love, have babies, or be who we are. After all, things change, so do cities, people come into your life and they go. But it’s comforting to know that the ones you love are always in your heart… and if you’re very lucky, a plane ride away.”
